What are the situations in which data can be lost from removable media?

Typical problems that we have seen with laptop computers are due to mechanical or electronic failure, where either the drive does not spin at all, or if it does, then quiet but persistent 'ticking' or 'crunching' noises can be heard during powering up.

What are the reasons of failure of floppy drives?

This particular problem is mainly due to an internal head amplifier failure or, more seriously, a head crash or misalignment problem, the majority of which are recoverable.

Laptops can receive a lot of abuse and their hard drives can get damaged. You may need laptop data recovery supports if:

  • You dropped your notebook and it no longer turns on.
  • An unsolicited e-mail has downloaded a trojan or virus on your laptop.
  • The laptop’s hard drive crashes.
  • You accidentally deleted some important company files and you want them retrieved in a hurry.

If there is a proper ventilation then there is no risk to keep on Laptop even more than 24 hours.. The danger to laptops is overheating. The bottom gets hot, so be careful where you put it. You may even want to put it on something raised so the air can get to the bottom. A tip that may help you when you're transporting your laptop is to take out the battery to ensure that you don't accidentally leave the laptop on.

What are the advantages of using a USB Flash Drive instead of an External Hard Drive?

  • Never leave your laptop unattended.
  • Never expose your laptop to extreme heat or extreme cold.
  • Don't expose your laptop to resonating noises, for example loud bass noise from speakers, heavy machinery.
  • Properly care for your laptop battery.
  • Keep magnetic devices away from your laptop.
  • Minimize exposure to airport x-rays.
  • Avoid eating and drinking near your laptop.
  • Keep your laptop clean and dust free.

I want to make my USB flash drive bootable, what steps are required for this process?

Most laptops now use lithium ion (LiIon) batteries. LiIons should be managed differently from the NiCad or NiMH batteries used in older laptops. In particular, LiIons should not be run all the way down to prevent "memory effect". First, they don't have a memory effect, and second, running them down tends to reduce their capacity. If the laptop does not need the battery it should be run to about 40% charge and stored in a cool place. LiIon batteries go bad whether used or not, so only buy new LiIons. Typical life of new LiIons battery is 2-3 years.

What is the difference between USB flash drives and USB Micro Drives?

There are several steps you can take to insure that you get maximum performance from your laptop battery:

  • Breaking in new batteries
  • Preventing the memory effect
  • Keep your batteries clean
  • Exercise your battery
  • Battery storage
